2023 US36 Fall Event

Hello all,

Another 2023 event is in the books with the U.S. 36 Dragway event yesterday. They had rain yesterday morning and when John and I arrived at 2:30 it was already dried up. The temperature was in the upper 70’s to low 80’s all day. We had ten cars present and the track had us planned to run three sessions. We finished the third pass just before 10 pm.

We were honored by the presence of one of our founding members of the club Dave Campbell. Dave stayed long enough to watch our first run about 6:45. Dave is looking good for an 84-year-old, and I had some real good conversation with him. If you didn’t know he and his wife Emma had been inducted into the club’s hall of fame many years ago. They along with Tom and Les Ponder were the first inductees.

Drivers present were: Ike Andrews, Doug Henderson, Rich Berlisk, John Grinwald, Paul Eikel, Milt Schreindl, Chris Heuton, Dan Janke, Joh Rousset and Larry Quinn.

Yes, you read right, Larry Quinn was there as a driver, and he made all three passes with the group and enjoyed himself all evening. Good to see him back out after a lengthy medical absence.

Others present were: Craig Schreindl, Alicia Henderson, Justin Eikel and a bunch of friends and family of the Eikels, Jaynie Heuton, Sandy Janke, Bill Berry and Larry Quinn’s grandson.

Thanks to the two ladies, Jaynie Heuton and Sandy Janke for doing the water box duties. Especially Sandy doing this for the first time and did very good and looked like she had done it for years. Jaynie trained her well.

Thanks to all that contributed with the evening eats and treats it was all very good.

Rich
