2022 Glory Days
Thursday evening, cars, drivers and crew began gathering for the Glory Days Event. Those in attendance on Friday were:
Ike Andrews, granddaughter and son-in-law
Tom Cartwright and Shelly Smith
Bob and Diana Durling
Doug and Alicia Henderson
Howard Crull
Gordy Long
Dennis Sherer and Friend, Larry
Tom and Ike ran in the high 11s, Bob and Dennis mid 10s, Doug low 10s, Gordy and the Patriot Missile struggled to run low 10s, fighting an engine misfire all day. Howard, unfortunately suffered engine trouble, but stayed with us to help out. Lots and lots of rain and a storm or two, over night. Looked like Saturday might be a washout.
Track employees worked hard and we actually ran 3 good runs on Saturday, but were limited to 1/8 mile due to a “green” track. But all went well!! Our last run was against the gassers of the Brew City Gassers. We all agreed that we need some more of that. Seems that the fans in the stands enjoyed it too!! We all enjoyed a pitchin lunch with our group, thanks to everyone! The evening ended with a nice fireworks show.
Since we only had 3 cars left on Sunday, we all agreed to head home! Gordy, Dennis and Howard had to call it quits, due to car problems.
It was good to meet the new track owners.
