2022 Memorial Day at GLD

The first completed event is in the books for 2022. The weather temp at Union Grove was perfect being 60’s into the low 70’s. Partly cloudy skies with  50% sunny day which made it decent. The track had a good turnout of spectators which I would guess to be several thousand. A very good car count was in the pits. The program started after 1 pm and wrapped up around 10 pm with 7 jet cars. Our group’s first run was around 1:45 second 4:45 and third sometime after 8pm. We were on the schedule for three runs and we got them all in and very close to the scheduled times. Not much down time on the track even with having a lot of very high powered racecars participating. The new racing surface they had installed including a new concrete water box is just awesome with the entire quarter mile as smooth as glass! I heard of several all time best ET’s by several cars occurred. Our fastest ET record was broken by Craig with a blistering 8.15 seconds, congrats on that. All cars were put away running with no breakage.

I would like to thank the following who made this past Saturday a fun and successful outing. Rich Berlisk, Jamie and Rachel Gresk, Ken Kinnucan, Dan Kuenster, Mark Mullarky, Gordy Long, (also broke his record ET into the 9’s with his 62 Dodge) Kelly Kukla, Ryan Long, Marty Mumm, Charlie Kuenster, Gary Schackow, Allan Schackow, Cody Schackow, Craig and Renee  Schreindl, Dave Phelps, Milt Schreindl ( he also broke his record with his wedge motor at 9.40) Dennis Sherer, Dave Wesolowski, Wes Wesolowski and Jenn Beagle.

Special thanks to the following for their contribution to making this event successful for us. Renee Schreindl for running the program  and on the starting line, Jamie Gresk on the starting line and Jenn Beagle for the photography. I know Mark Mullarky was doing something but I haven’t figured out what it was. Also thanks to Milt for the fire pit Saturday night. I left at 1am and the fire was going strong and had attracted a bunch of the Brew City gassers who supplied the boom box for some tunes. I’m sure it was a late breakup on this.
